profile

Life can sometimes deliver you to a surprising, unplanned destination.

That’s how things turned out for Darren. When a distinguished 20-year career in the NSW Police came to an end, the next life move wasn’t immediately clear.

He started a small landscaping business, and at the same time a childhood talent for sketching began to assert itself, a creative counterpoint to the stresses of his previous life as a detective.

Clients began to seek his advice on how to utilise outdoor areas, his natural instinct for finding the harmony between design, function and utility creating spaces that still delight years later. As word-of-mouth demand for his services grew, so did his desire to unlock the principles of his new passion.

A Bachelor of Design degree majoring in Architecture was added to his Bachelor of Social Science and Master of Public Policy degrees.

He might have taken a long way around, but this is precisely where Darren Shearer was always meant to be.
